The temperature has dropped and I’m surrounded by Pumpkin spice “everything.’ There’s no denying now that Fall is here and it’s football season. If you’re into high school football or college football, you’re sure to find a long list of games every weekend in Salisbury. While the game itself is the main event, win or lose, you’re sure to have fun.

There’s nothing Iike the atmosphere of a small town football game. The excitement of home town rivalry carries over from generation to generation. There’s nothing like cheering for your team to make you actually feel like you’re apart of the team. I graduated from high school in 1991, nearly 30 years ago., and I’m still surprised by the wave of school spirit felt . It’s just as fun now as it was then.

And there’s nothing like bumping into old classmates, teachers, friends and family. It’s always fun catching up and finding out what eveyone’s been up to — whether it’s just been over the summer or over the last several years. ‘A football game is a great way to bring together a sense of belonging. Football fans are loyal and many people Iike being part of a supportative community.

To a certain number of folks, including myself, the half time performance is more important than the game. Under the “Friday Night Lights” the flag girls uniforms glitter, the band instruments shine and the cheerleaders pull out all the stops to entertain. Fan engagement is at an all time high during these special performances.

Football is a sport that is never ending.  You don’t need a lot of money to attend anlocal High school or college game.  Grab your friends and family and make a night of it!
